Comments:
Made in 1888, this Bechstein grand piano features a black metal frame that is painted with flowery motifs. The original legs are quite unique looking with more carvings than are usually found on the later Bechsteins.
The original legs, lyre and music desk have all been retained and are all quite ornate. There are also some nice figurings above each leg.
The ivory keys are in “ok” condition and there is 1 missing.
The pinblock appears to have some splits meaning it should be replaced during any restoration. Most restoration workshops replace the pinblock as standard anyway. There are no cracks in the metal frame that I could see.
The soundboard has a couple of cracks but this is very common and not necessarily detremental on the quality of tone etc.
There is no sign of any recent restoration work to this piano but the gold paintings on the black metal frame may not be original.
