The YUS1SH2 replaced the YUS1SH. It is the same underlying piano (YUS1) but with an updated silent system. If you have any technical info or corrections for this article, please email mgpianos@gmail.com.

The pros of buying a Yamaha YUS1SH2

  • It has all the amazing benefits of the Yamaha YUS1 but with the updated silent technology installed.
  • The YUS1SH2 is 10cm shorter than the YUS3SH2 so may be a good option if you need something relatively compact.
  • It is made from the very best materials and was made in Yamaha’s very best factory in Japan.

What are the cons of buying a YUS1SH2?

  • It is very expensive.

When was it produced?

The YUS1SH2 was released around 2018 as a replacement for the YUS1SH

Where was it made?

Yamaha makes all of its top range pianos in Hamamatsu Japan, including its concert grand, the CFX, which sells for £140k. This is also where the Yamaha YUS1SH2 is made.

Quotes

We haven’t managed to find any online opinions regarding the YUS1SH2, perhaps because it was quite a specialist model and not produced in large numbers.

Who should buy them?

This is a piano for anyone who really wants the very best, it has the latest technology installed, and will make the most demanding professional smile.

Will I need to upgrade at some point?

No. Nope. You definitely don’t need to. You might crave the extra height and long strings of the YUS3SH2 at some point but in terms of build quality, you will never need to upgrade a YUS1SH2.

Dimensions

Height:  121cm
Width:    152cm
Depth:    61cm

New and used prices.

A reconditioned Yamaha YUS1SH2 will cost around £12,500. A good second hand one might be around £9000

Alternative models to consider similar to this.

You could go for a YUS1 (it’s the same underlying piano without the silent kit), or save a bit of money and get the older silent model, the YUS1SH. or you could consider the YUS3SH (very very rare) which has longer strings for a richer sound. You might also enjoy the U10BL which is an upgraded U1 and is likely to be far less expensive than the YUS1SH.

Conclusion

A fabulous piano to suit any pianist. It’s highly unlikely that you will find a YUS3SH2 on the secondhand market as they are very young and very few were made. If you spot one, snap it up quick!
