3,664 Pianos Imported from Japan Since 2007: The Records Behind the Claim

Anyone can say they have years of experience. We wanted to show the paperwork behind ours.

Since 2007, our order, shipment and invoice records show that we’ve imported 3,664 pianos from Japan. Japanese Yamaha pianos have been at the core of our business throughout that period.

What is in the register?

The workbook is a public summary of the records we hold, with private commercial details removed. For 2,206 pianos it gives the model, evidence date and a masked serial number. The final two serial characters are replaced with lowercase xx.

For the remaining 1,458 pianos, the register uses the totals from final shipments, orders and invoices. We have not published the original commercial documents because they contain private trading information.

Revisions are counted once, using the final shipped or invoiced version. We excluded duplicates, stools, parts, future orders and orders identified as still in transit. That makes the total more cautious than simply adding every number found in an email.

What does it prove?

It shows the scale and continuity of our piano imports from Japan. It does not provide a complete ownership history for every piano, and we have not published every original document. We keep the full source records privately.

For a buyer, scale does not automatically guarantee a good piano. It does mean we have handled large numbers of Yamaha uprights and grands across different ages, models and conditions. That experience helps us compare pianos, set preparation standards and spot problems before a piano reaches a customer.

We import pianos from Japan through longstanding Japanese suppliers. Preparation is carried out within their workshop network before the pianos come to us in the UK, with the exact work depending on the condition of each instrument.

Why publish it?

Big numbers are easy to repeat and difficult for a customer to check. We have published this register so that people can look at the dates, models and masked serials for themselves.

The masking protects commercially sensitive information while leaving enough detail to show that these are individual piano records rather than a marketing estimate.

If you are comparing dealers, do not take any big number at face value, including ours. Open the register and examine the evidence.
