Kawai US Series Upright Pianos
The US series is Kawai’s tall professional upright, and the closest thing they make to a Yamaha U3 or UX. The best known is the US-50, which stands about 132cm, or 52 inches.
That extra height matters. Longer strings and a bigger soundboard give a fuller, rounder tone and more power than a standard upright, so a US-50 fills a room in a way a smaller piano cannot. These were built in Japan to a high standard, and a good one plays beautifully.
If you want the most piano you can get without moving to a grand, a tall Kawai like the US series is well worth trying, alongside a Yamaha U3 or UX. Play them side by side if you can, and trust your own ears on the tone.
