Are Kemble Pianos Made by Yamaha?
This is one of the most common questions about Kemble, and the answer is yes, for the most part, and it is good news for buyers.
The short answer
From 1988, Yamaha owned Kemble, and Kemble pianos were built with Yamaha soundboards and action parts in a British-made cabinet. The Milton Keynes factory also built Yamaha-branded pianos. So a Yamaha-era Kemble is, in a real sense, a British-built Yamaha.
Before and after Yamaha
Older, pre-1988 Kembles are British pianos in their own right, made before the Yamaha connection. They are decent instruments, but they do not have the Yamaha parts. If the Yamaha engineering is what you are after, look for a later Kemble. The model and serial number will help date it.
