Yamaha U100 Upright Piano review & information
The Yamaha U100 has a very similar look, touch, and tone to the Yamaha U1, with only a few slight design changes between them. It is consider an upgrade over the U1. A wonderful piano.
Pros and cons of the Yamaha U100?
PROS
- The Yamaha U100 is made from the highest quality materials using
all of Yamaha’s best knowledge. - At 121cm tall the Yamaha U100 is a great option for those who
have a smaller space and don’t want a piano taking over their
home. - The Yamaha U100 comes from the Hamamatsu factory in Japan. All
the best Yamaha Pianos come from here.
CONS
- None. This is an amazing piano. You COULD push to the U300 for even better sound in the bass.

The Yamaha U100 was manufactured in the mid to late 90's (please tell me if you have the accurate production dates).
Where was it made?
Yamaha make all of their best pianos in Hamamatsu, Japan including the Yamaha U100 and also the Yamaha CFX concert grand which sells for around £140k!
Quotes
Don’t just take our word for it…
“We bought (or rather I persuaded my husband) to buy a Yamaha U100 after my then piano teacher had one which replaced his grand piano. I just loved his new piano and was determined to have a similar one to replace our existing Yamaha piano (can't remember what it was). The Yamaha which we got has been a joy to have. I love it.” – source

Who should buy them?
The Yamaha U100 will make any pianist very happy if they need a slightly smaller piano. Anyone would be very lucky to own one of these!
Will I need to upgrade at some point?
You may want to own something a bit bigger with a wider range of tone but this piano will last a lifetime.
Dimensions
- Height: 121cm
- Width: 150cm
- Depth: 60cm
New and used prices.
A professionally refurbished Yamaha U100 will cost around £5500
Alternative models to consider similar to this.
The Yamaha U series is really the best when it comes to pianos, so any of them are worth considering. The U1 is so similar that you may struggle to spot the difference, or you could go bigger and try out the Yamaha U3 or U300.
Conclusion
If you want a piano that sounds great and will last you a lifetime, the Yamaha U100 will not disappoint.
