Yamaha U1M
The U1M took over from the U1H in 1980 and was made until 1982. It was built in Japan, like every U1.
The tone is slightly brighter and cleaner than the U1H. Whether you prefer that is a matter of taste, so play both if you can.
It is every bit as safe a buy as the U1H.
