Yamaha UX100 upright piano review and information
The UX100 is a great piano for those needing to save on space. Very similar to the Yamaha U1, with a few improved parts on the inside and an X framed back, which Yamaha claims gives the piano better stability.
Pros and cons of the Yamaha UX100?
PROS
- The Yamaha UX100 is part of Yamaha’s X series, which means it has an X frame on the back. Yamaha claims that this makes the piano stronger and improves its stability.
- The UX100 is made from the highest quality materials.
- At 121cm tall the Yamaha UX100 is a great smaller piano.
CONS
- The Yamaha UX100 is very rare. If you like it but can’t find one, try the U1 instead which are also fantastic smaller pianos and are much easier to source.
When was it produced?
The Yamaha UX100 was only made between 1994 ad 1997, giving it a very short production window.
Where was it made?
The Yamaha UX100 was produced in Yamaha’s best factory in Hamamatsu, Japan. Yamaha makes all of their greatest pianos here, including the CFX concert grand piano, which sells for around £140k.

New and used prices.
The UX100 is not made new anymore and you should expect to pay around £6000 for a professionally reconditioned 2nd hand one.
Alternative models to consider similar to this.
The Yamaha UX500 is a good alternative to the UX100 as it is taller, sadly though, they are just as rare. If you need something cheaper and easier to find, but with the same high quality you should consider the Yamaha U1.
Conclusion
The UX100 is an amazing smaller piano, if you find one that has been cared for and properly reconditioned, you should definitely snap it up.
