Yamaha W102B Upright Piano - It's like a U3 but brown!

Does the “W” stand for “Walnut”? I’m thinking yes it does! Anyway, the Yamaha W102B upright piano was made in Japan. I’m going to add more details to this page soon but very briefly, the W102B is a nice piano and we’ve had plenty in stock over the years. Made in Japan, nice quality, nice tone, nice cabinet without the weird extra brass bits that some of the other wooden finish If you have any technical info or corrections for this article, please email mgpianos@gmail.com.
The pros
- Comparable quality to a U3, BUT IT’S BROWN!!! (and it’s very hard to find a brown U3)
- Quite an interesting cabinet design with some attention to detail
- It doesn’t have some of the weird brass design elements that some of the other “W” models have
- Does it have the x-brace at the back? I think not but I need to check
- Nice wide music desk AND a little extra shelf either side of the music desk
The cons
- The model is rare and unfamiliar which means the resale value is lower because nobody is going out looking for these models on purpose.
When was it produced?
I think it was mid-1970s to early 1980s but will add accurate info when I get my Japanese piano book open
Where was it made?
The Yamaha W102B was made in the Hamamatsu Factory, in Japan just like all the best Yamaha pianos

Alternative models to consider
U1, U3, U30A, U30BL, but those are all black. If you want brown you might need to try and find a British made Yamaha U3SN or U1SN or U3N or U1N
