Bechstein Piano Prices
“How much is a Bechstein?” depends heavily on which Bechstein, because the name covers a wide range from hand-built German flagships to cheaper factory lines.
New prices
A new hand-built C. Bechstein grand is a serious purchase, broadly in the same territory as a Steinway, from around the price of a small family car for the smallest grand up to well into six figures for the concert models. The cheaper W. Hoffmann and Bechstein Academy ranges cost a good deal less, because they are built partly abroad. Always check which line you are being quoted.
Used prices
This is where Bechstein gets interesting. Older German Bechstein grands turn up on the used market at a wide range of prices, from a few thousand pounds for a piano needing work, to tens of thousands for a well-restored example.
