LET US CHOOSE A PIANO FOR YOU

If you are too busy to visit or you feel that you aren’t able to make an informed decision then ask us to choose a piano for you. Just tell us the room size where the piano is going and also describe the flooring and curtains and ceiling height. This will help us choose a piano that is neither too bright, mellow, soft or loud for your room. http://www.mgps.uk/info/markchoose

READ OUR BUYER’S GUIDE

Here are some of the key points to tempt you to read the full version:

  • Buy Japanese.
  • Buy taller than 121cm.
  • Buy reconditioned not new.
  • Don’t buy a piano with a plywood soundboard.
  • The U3 has longer strings than a baby grand. Longer strings produce a better sound.

CONVERT ANY PIANO TO SILENT/HYBRID

Once you’ve found a piano you like you may then ask us to install a silent kit so that the piano can be played acoustically as normal but with the added option to flick a switch and play it silently through the headphones instead. We use the latest system designed in Germany. Excellent option if you have neighbours or like to play late at night. http://www.mgps.uk/info/silent-yamaha-pianos

5 YEAR GUARANTEE WITH ALL YAMAHA PIANOS

Unless otherwise stated all of the pianos on our stocklist come with a 5 year guarantee which covers any internal action parts breaking, snapping, falling off or being defective. Any necessary work can usually be done in your home by a technician who lives close to you. http://www.mgps.uk/info/5-year-guarantee

FREE 1st TUNING

All of our reconditioned Yamaha pianos come with a 1st tuning in your home included with the price. You can request this tuning 6 weeks after delivery so that the piano has had plenty of time to settle in first. http://www.mgps.uk/info/free-tuning

FREE MATCHING ADJUSTABLE STOOL

Choose between brand new (made in China) or 2nd hand (made in Japan). The used ones are stronger and heavier but usually have scratches and dents. Most people choose a new stool but if you want it to last forever I recommend a used Japanese one. http://www.mgps.uk/info/piano-stools

PART EXCHANGE?

Yes we will consider taking your existing piano in part-exchange. Brace yourself for a low offer as most used pianos are not worth very much within the piano trade. http://www.mgps.uk/info/part-exchange

KEY TO FIT THE LOCK

We are happy to supply a brand new key to fit the lock of most Yamaha upright pianos. We supply these on request after delivery as most people find that they don’t need one. http://www.mgps.uk/info/yamaha-piano-key

DIMENSIONS

* Yamaha U3: 130.5cm (h), 153.5cm (w), 65cm (d) more * Yamaha U1: 121cm (h), 151cm (w), 61.5cm (d) more

JAPANESE IS BEST

Unless otherwise stated, all of our Yamaha pianos were made in Japan in Yamaha’s Hamamatsu factory which also produces their very best concert grand pianos worth £1000,000+. Not all Yamaha pianos are Japanese just like not all Fenders guitars are American. Do your research!

BUY BACK LATER?

If you buy a piano from us and find that you no longer need it a few years later we offer a “sell for you” scheme where we bring the piano back to our showroom and take a sales commission once it sells. Yamaha pianos hold their value really well so you should expect a good return. http://www.mgps.uk/info/piano-sale-commission

PRICES NEGOTIABLE?

We keep our prices firmly fixed so that it is fair for all customers.

ABOUT THE PIANOS

There now follows lots of info about our pianos and about Yamaha pianos in general

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE YAMAHA U1 and YAMAHA U3?

The U3 is 10cm taller than the U1. The extra height allows the U3 to have longer strings and a larger soundboard. The U3 also has longer keys and a taller action which help make it feel more like playing a grand piano. more

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A 1970s AND 1980s YAMAHA U3 OR U1?

A 1980s U1 or U3 can sometimes bit a little brighter than a 1970s U1 or U3, particularly in the bottom couple of octaves. This isn’t always the case so you should still treat each piano on its individual merits. more

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE YAMAHA U3F, U3G, U3H, U3M, U3A, ETC?

All of those models were made in Japan, the different letter suffix just refers to a different period of time when the piano was made. Each model will have slight variations of designs but there are no significant differences between them. The U3F, U3G and some early U3H pianos can be too old. The U3M, U3A are very reliable providing they have been thoroughly reconditioned.
