Buying a Used Blüthner
A used Blüthner is a lovely thing, and an expensive one, so it is worth buying carefully. We are Yamaha specialists, not a Blüthner dealer, so this is honest guidance.
What sets the value
Condition above all, then whether it has been rebuilt and with quality parts, then the model and size, and the age. On an older Blüthner, a proper restoration by someone who knows the make matters a great deal. Always have one seen by an independent technician before you buy.
The aliquot
Check that the aliquot strings, the extra treble strings, are present and in order, as they are part of what makes a Blüthner sound like a Blüthner. A good technician will know what to look for.
