Blüthner vs Yamaha
A Blüthner and a Yamaha sit at very different points, so this is really a choice between top-tier heritage and outstanding value. We sell reconditioned Yamaha, so allow for our leaning.
The short version
A Blüthner is a hand-built, top-tier German piano with a warm, singing tone and the shimmer of its famous extra string, at a top-tier price. A Yamaha is a superbly consistent Japanese piano, brighter and more precise, and costs a fraction as much. They are aimed at different buyers.
Tone
Blüthner is warm, romantic and singing, softened in the treble by the aliquot string. Yamaha is bright, clear and even, and carries and records well. Which you prefer is taste.
Price
This is the gap. A reconditioned Japanese Yamaha costs a small fraction of a Blüthner. For a fine grand or upright in a normal home, it is superb value.
