Petrof Upright Pianos

Petrof makes a wide range of upright pianos, hand-built in the Czech Republic, and they are a warm-toned European alternative to the Japanese uprights.

The range

The uprights run from around 118cm up to the taller models, the P 125, the P 131 and the top P 135. The taller the piano, the bigger and deeper the tone. All share the warm, singing Petrof character.

Who they suit

A player who wants a hand-built European upright with a romantic tone, and does not need the famous name or the resale of a German maker. Petrof uprights offer a lot of piano for the money.

Price and the alternative

See our price guide for the ranges. A reconditioned Japanese Yamaha U1 or U3 is the natural comparison, brighter and with stronger resale, and usually cheaper. Worth hearing both. See our Yamaha pianos for sale.
